Send the bag ahead. Travel light.
A full suitcase does not have to ride with you between the hotel, the event and the airport. Singapore has no single luggage-forwarding brand, but the pieces exist: an airport delivery service, a hotel check-in scheme, two islandwide courier networks and an international route home. This page sets out which piece does which job.
How sending a bag works here
Sending luggage in Singapore is not one named national service the way takkyubin is in Japan. It is three separate things that cover the same ground: the airport's own delivery service for the arrival and departure legs, ordinary parcel couriers for address-to-address moves inside the city, and international shipping for the bag that is going home or on to another country. In every case you hand the bag over at a counter, a hotel desk or a collection booking, and it travels without you; keep one night's essentials in your hand luggage.
Airport to hotel: Changi's Baggage Delivery Service
Pick your luggage up from the arrival belt and drop it at any public Baggage Storage store in Jewel or Terminals 1 to 4, and Changi's delivery service takes it to your hotel or destination of choice. Rates for airport to hotel delivery: the first bag is S$35 per piece for a bag below 30 kg, the second bag onwards is S$30 per piece, and odd-sized items are S$50 per piece; the airport's own examples of odd-sized items are bicycles, golf bags, surfboards and items above 30 kg.
Hotel to airport: off-airport check-in
Going the other way, Changi's Off-Airport Check-In lets guests of three hotels check luggage in at the hotel and have it delivered to the airport and loaded onto the departing flight, so you collect it at your arrival airport instead. You register for the service, check in online, and drop your luggage at the hotel between 7am and 11am. The conditions are narrow: a minimum one-night stay at a participating hotel, which the airport lists as the Fullerton Bay Hotel, The Fullerton Hotel and Marina Bay Sands; travel on a participating airline, which the airport lists as Singapore Airlines only; and a flight departing between 5:00PM and 7:00AM the next day, excluding flights to the United States.
Address to address inside Singapore: the couriers
For a hotel-to-hotel or home delivery inside the city, the vehicle is an ordinary parcel. Ninja Van's consumer service, Ninja Flexi, is booked on its own platform: you either drop the parcel at a designated pick-up and drop-off point or have it collected on the next available working day, delivery within Singapore is within 3 working days, and delivery working hours are 9am to 10pm. The fee for an order is shown on the order confirmation page, and parcels must fit the size you select: a parcel heavier than the selected size, or bigger in total dimensions, is unacceptable under its terms.
SingPost is the other islandwide network: its delivery services offer doorstep delivery and islandwide collection points across Singapore, with same-day, next-day and scheduled time-slot options. Both couriers price a bag as a parcel, by weight and size, so measure and weigh a suitcase before booking; a hotel can only receive it if its desk accepts deliveries for guests, which is worth one message to the hotel before you send.
Sending a bag home: international
SingPost's Speedpost International is the postal route home: it delivers to over 220 countries, with tracking and doorstep delivery, and shipments can be created online through ezy2ship, as a guest or with an account. Its fastest service, Speedpost Express International, is estimated at 2 to 9 working days to major cities; Priority is 3 to 14 working days, and Economy 3 to 15 weeks. The maximum weight on the Express, Priority and Economy services is 20 kg, and free pickup is offered on all except the Saver service.
Send My Bag: the luggage specialist
When the trip ends and the suitcase is full of shopping, a specialist service does the same job between countries. Send My Bag ships luggage door to door: you book online for a collection date, print labels at home or have them sent to you, and it collects from your home, office, university or hotel and delivers to your chosen destination, tracked from pick-up to delivery.
