As part of the Singapore Design Festival, SG101 Design will uncover creative works and efforts from our local artists. Fashioning the various facets of design works including product designs, fashion designs, photography and many more. SG101 Design looks into the success stories of local designers who have succeeded in making a mark on the world map and discusses the challenges associated with the production of creative works in Singapore.

Environmental issues will be in the spotlight again at an exhibition of photographs by OnAsia, the leading Asia-specialised photo agency.  The images are by photographers working in different parts of Asia and constitute an eye-opening visual account of the environmental destruction being wrought throughout the region, often in the name of progress.  OnAsia currently represents over 180 professional photographers living and working throughout the region who cover a wide variety of subjects including political and social trends.  OnAsia’s online archive of over 180,000 images is a National Library Board eResource and all of its images, including those being exhibited at this exhibition, are available for educational use free of charge. Students and educators can access and download any number of images (for use in presentations, lectures, homework, reports and so on) by visiting www.onasia.com/nlb.

Since January, “The Photographers’ Stories” has been exhibited around the island and this coming March, they will culminate in a group show. For this special edition of “The Photographers’ Stories”, curator, Chris Yap, will recreate new stories from the images, bringing with them new contexts to be perceived and admired. This show is also part of “circa”, a biannual photography outreach programme that reaches out to students.

Join Chris Yap, on a curator’s walk to unfold the many stories within the photographs on 21 March, 4pm at Level 7, Promenade.
